How it works
Deoxycholic acid is a molecule your body makes to help absorb dietary fat. When Kybella is injected into the fat under the chin, it destroys fat cells in the treated area. Once destroyed, those cells can no longer store or accumulate fat.
Is it right for me?
Fullness under the chin can come from fat, loose skin, or both. Kybella treats fat only, so your visit starts with an assessment of your chin and neck. If loose skin is the bigger factor, your provider will talk you through options that address it.
What to expect
Treatment is done in the office in a short visit. Many patients need more than one session. Sessions are spaced at least a month apart, up to six in total, and your provider will tell you how many are likely for you.
After treatment
Swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of firmness under the chin are common and usually settle. Your provider will also explain less common side effects, including nerve injury in the jaw that can cause an uneven smile, and difficulty swallowing, before you decide.
Every treatment is performed by a licensed provider under Medical Director oversight, with clear protocols.
